Under Promise and Over Deliver – Way to go Clarks

What you can learn from Clarks by always over delivering on your promises. I had never purchased anything from a Clarks store before.  I avoid retail like the plague.  Amazon prime is my best friend.  Seriously, why leave the house only to find it’s not in stock or the sales person has no idea what you are talking about?  This is why my wife actually purchased two pairs of shoes (buy one get one 50%) from the Clarks store down at the local mall on Black Friday for me (yes, she is crazy in love, or just plain crazy).  It was my Christmas present.  We had stopped in another mall and tried some on one day back in the summer, my 4 year old Arizona baked sandals felt like sand paper next to these babies, so like every geek, I put it in Evernote on my wish list.  I even took a photo of the size and type of the shoe from a box nearby. That was in July, come Christmas time my wife asks if I have that photo anywhere (and I did), so I sent it to her and waited for the “big surprise” on Christmas morning.  Little did I know that the photo I took was for a pair of shoes a half size too small!  She got me TWO pair that were too small… my fault entirely. The Return Anyway, fast forward to January and I’ve got two of my kids in tow to return the shows for a direct exchange, I just needed different sizes after all.  In and out, simple right? When I got there the poor guy at the register was by himself, he had just made a mistake on someone’s return and had no idea how to fix it.  After being there for about 40 minutes it was finally my turn and at this point my little girl was single highhandedly taking apart the store. Come to find out he didn’t have any of my size in stock (what did I tell you, Amazon all the way!) but he said he could ORDER them for me.  He was about to make me pay an additional $35 dollars because the Buy One, Get One 50% off wasn’t in effect but I told him frankly my wife would kill me after being out on Black Friday to get that deal.  He said “At Clarks we will do anything to make sure you are satisfied with your experience.” so he gave me the original deal. The Survey Here’s the kicker…not only did this guy waste literally an hour of my life for something that...

Teenagers are Leaving Facebook

Teenagers are Leaving Facebook

So begin in the senior housing industry, this post from SocialMediaToday.com is amazing, the graphic tells it all, with an 80% jump in users age 55+. Why ‘Teenage Flight’ From Facebook is Good for B2B There has been much talk recently about the wholesale abandonment of Facebook by its initial core user base, teenagers and early 20s. While the internet is abuzz with this phenomenon, and the potential it has to lead to Facebook’s downfall, we in the B2B community should be excited; this is the best thing that could have happened! It has been reported that, since 2011, millions of teens have left Facebook. The reasoning behind this mass exodus is that Facebook is not “cool” anymore. Facebook was once a refuge for young people to express themselves outside the prying eyes of their parents, but has now become something totally different.Snapchat, Instagram, Pinterest, WhatsApp and other “niche” social networks seem to be the new home for many teenagers. While daily use of Facebook has slightly diminished as a result of this development, older more professional types of users are filling the gap left by the exit of the younger demographic. For years, B2B marketers have shied away from social media altogether for many reasons, including its demographic. We are seeing more and more professionals becoming active on Facebook. As a result, Facebook has become fertile ground for B2B marketers to generate leads, and establish potentially beneficial professional relationships....

Things Successful People Do Every Day

Things Successful People Do Every Day I read this on my Zite app today and thought it was pretty amazingly simple so I had to share.  Credit goes to the guys at under30ceo.com for all of this post.  The most amazing (and true) one on this list is item number 6.   7 Things Successful People Do Every Day I have been interviewing over 30 multimillionaires, 5 billionaires, world-class athletes, NYT bestselling authors, and billionaires. Moreover, having a family member who has been ranked # 21 wealthiest person in the US and #41 in the world by Forbes a few years back, gave me some insides on what ultra successful people do daily to become the best in the world. 1. Successful people exercise their body first thing in the morning to gain energy for the rest of the day. It could be anything starting from stretching and yoga to running and weigh lifting. 2. Successful people plan their day before taking on their first task.Luminaries value their time more than anyone else. They plan every single minute of their day to get the most out of it. 3. Successful people do the most important tasks first before moving on to a smaller one. They apply 80/20 rule. 20% of their tasks bring 80% result in their business. 4. Successful people take risks.Every single day successful people take one or more risks in their business. They know there is no growth when you get comfortable. 5. Successful people take full responsibility for their life and business.Successful people take full responsibility for anything they do. They never make excuses while the masses blame everybody else around, and in fact they even blame things for their misfortunes, and make all kind of excuses for why they are not happy, not successful, not healthy, not fit, you get the picture. 6. Successful people read 30-60 minutes every day. While the masses want to be entertained, world-class wants to be educated. Successful people read a lot books to feed their mind. While the masses watch TV, world-class solves problems. 7. Successful people are grateful. They reflect every night on what was great today and what they are grateful for. They always look for positive in any life situation. Katrina is known as an ambitious woman building businesses, creating high-end brands and getting celebrity endorsements all while saving the environment on 6-inch Louboutin stilettos. In the Beginning

Ok, so it’s a new year and I was sitting in a particular location within my home, not to be confused with the bathroom, and I thought.  “Man, I should start a blog.  I’m not sure if anyone will read it, but hey, it’s worth a shot!”  I mostly thought about the funky things I would share and the reason for sharing them.  Part of it comes from a desire for people to understand who I am and how I tick, perhaps it’s a “self branding” thing.  The other half of me wants to help other business owners just get some ideas and tech gear, etc… for fun. So I’m creating a blog for the longer posts.  The ones that I think people will enjoy about my musings and findings.  I probably should have shared this stuff a long time ago, but hey, it’s never too late to start, right?  ...
