Under Promise and Over Deliver – Way to go Clarks

What you can learn from Clarks by always over delivering on your promises. I had never purchased anything from a Clarks store before.  I avoid retail like the plague.  Amazon prime is my best friend.  Seriously, why leave the house only to find it’s not in stock or the sales person has no idea what you are talking about?  This is why my wife actually purchased two pairs of shoes (buy one get one 50%) from the Clarks store down at the local mall on Black Friday for me (yes, she is crazy in love, or just plain crazy).  It was my Christmas present.  We had stopped in another mall and tried some on one day back in the summer, my 4 year old Arizona baked sandals felt like sand paper next to these babies, so like every geek, I put it in Evernote on my wish list.  I even took a photo of the size and type of the shoe from a box nearby. That was in July, come Christmas time my wife asks if I have that photo anywhere (and I did), so I sent it to her and waited for the “big surprise” on Christmas morning.  Little did I know that the photo I took was for a pair of shoes a half size too small!  She got me TWO pair that were too small… my fault entirely. The Return Anyway, fast forward to January and I’ve got two of my kids in tow to return the shows for a direct exchange, I just needed different sizes after all.  In and out, simple right? When I got there the poor guy at the register was by himself, he had just made a mistake on someone’s return and had no idea how to fix it.  After being there for about 40 minutes it was finally my turn and at this point my little girl was single highhandedly taking apart the store. Come to find out he didn’t have any of my size in stock (what did I tell you, Amazon all the way!) but he said he could ORDER them for me.  He was about to make me pay an additional $35 dollars because the Buy One, Get One 50% off wasn’t in effect but I told him frankly my wife would kill me after being out on Black Friday to get that deal.  He said “At Clarks we will do anything to make sure you are satisfied with your experience.” so he gave me the original deal. The Survey Here’s the kicker…not only did this guy waste literally an hour of my life for something that...

Teenagers are Leaving Facebook

So begin in the senior housing industry, this post from SocialMediaToday.com is amazing, the graphic tells it all, with an 80% jump in users age 55+. Why ‘Teenage Flight’ From Facebook is Good for B2B There has been much talk recently about the wholesale abandonment of Facebook by its initial core user base, teenagers and early 20s. While the internet is abuzz with this phenomenon, and the potential it has to lead to Facebook’s downfall, we in the B2B community should be excited; this is the best thing that could have happened! It has been reported that, since 2011, millions of teens have left Facebook. The reasoning behind this mass exodus is that Facebook is not “cool” anymore. Facebook was once a refuge for young people to express themselves outside the prying eyes of their parents, but has now become something totally different.Snapchat, Instagram, Pinterest, WhatsApp and other “niche” social networks seem to be the new home for many teenagers. While daily use of Facebook has slightly diminished as a result of this development, older more professional types of users are filling the gap left by the exit of the younger demographic. For years, B2B marketers have shied away from social media altogether for many reasons, including its demographic. We are seeing more and more professionals becoming active on Facebook. As a result, Facebook has become fertile ground for B2B marketers to generate leads, and establish potentially beneficial professional relationships....

CubTrails Saved My Life

CubTrails Saved My Life and Sanity About 2 weeks ago I sat at my old Windows machine (super old, I’m a Mac user now), logged in via FTP to some dotnet software developed in what looked like the early ’90’s and attempted to make sense out of the cub scout awards I was supposed to go buy for the pack meeting coming up the next day.   After sitting there for hours, working with the BSA online crappy database I decided I needed to check out a tip my friend gave me.  He said to try CubTrails because it was developed by one of the creators of Infusionsoft. I have used Infusionsoft now for about 5 years and when I heard there could be a solution out there anything remotley like it for tracking the Cub Scout advancements, online, in the cloud I was all for it!  I was called as the Cub Committee Chair about 9 months ago and I’m just now realizing how horrible the PackMaster software really is now that I’m forced to do it myself.  The poor chap that had to do this before me, holy cow that’s a tough job! The program is great.  It is still being worked on and new features are being added, but it is worth it’s weight in gold!   If you go to their facebook page you can get an 18% discount with a year membership after your trial is up. Just do it and save...
